Choose the right role
Each person has exactly one role per workspace, and the same person can hold different roles in different workspaces.
A workspace always has exactly one owner, and never zero: the last owner can’t be removed or demoted, and an owner can’t leave until they’ve handed ownership to someone else.
Members and guests don’t see a settings entry point at all, and can’t reach settings by typing the URL.
Invite someone by email
On the Members tab, enter the person’s email address and pick their role — guest, member or admin. They get an email with a link. When they open it and sign in (or register), they join with the role you chose. There’s no approval step afterwards. Two things to keep in mind:- The invitation is tied to that email address. If the person signs in with a different address, the invitation is refused and tells them so. They need to accept with the address you invited.
- Email invitations expire after 24 hours. After that, the link is refused as expired and you need to send a new one.
Share an invite link
For less formal sharing, generate an invite link instead. You choose the role and how long the link lives:- Role: guest or member only. Links can’t grant admin.
- Expiration: 1, 3, 7 or 30 days, or never.
Ownership is never granted by an invitation, by email or by link. The only way to become owner is for the current owner to transfer it.
Give someone read-only access
Invite them as a Guest. A guest sees a permanent banner saying their access is read-only. Everything that would change something is refused: creating, editing and deleting are blocked, and this is enforced on the server, not just hidden in the interface. AI actions are blocked too — the request is stopped before any AI provider is called, so a guest can never spend your AI budget. Instead of a confusing failure, the guest gets a clear read-only notice. Reading and navigating are unaffected: a guest can look around the whole workspace.Change a role or remove someone
Owners and admins can change someone’s role or remove them from the workspace, on the Members tab. Admins can’t change or remove the owner. An admin can leave a workspace with Leave on the same tab. After leaving, you’re switched to another workspace you belong to; if there’s none, Vector creates a new one for you.Hand over ownership
Only the owner can transfer ownership, and only to someone already in the workspace: click Make owner on their row. They become the owner, and you become an admin. There’s no limit on how many people a workspace can have.Where to go next
