Write one line, get a description
Open My product. The first step on the screen, Description, is the only required one.
My product: the required Description step, the research steps that enrich the profile, and the approved description
1
Set your target market
Target market is the countries or regions your product is aimed at. It feeds the AI draft, and competitor search and every research step inherit it. Leave it on Worldwide if you aren’t targeting a particular market.
2
Write what you're building
On the Human input tab, describe your product in your own words. A single line will do, the way you’d put it to a colleague — for example, “an AI notetaker with agents for teams”.
3
Let AI draft the description
Click Next — AI writes the description. AI expands your line into a full description grounded in it and in your target market, and the draft opens on the AI draft tab.
4
Edit and approve
The draft is a starting point, not a verdict. Fix anything that isn’t right — the wording, the audience, a feature that doesn’t belong — and approve it. The approved version is what the rest of Vector reads; until then it’s still a draft.
Enrich the profile
Below the description, Enrich the profile offers optional research steps that build on it: Domain scout, Landscape mapper, Market sizer, ICP & personas, Problem framer, Positioning, Metrics advisor and Trend scout. None of them is required, and you can run them in any order. A counter next to the heading shows how many are done. Each step reads the description and every step completed before it, so the profile compounds: the more of it you fill in, the more context competitor search and modeling have to work with. What depends on it
The approved description isn’t something you write once and forget. It’s the input to:- Finding competitors — AI searches for products that match your description, so a vague description returns vague competitors
- Deep research — a competitor teardown is written against your product, not in the abstract
- Comparing features — your own column in the comparison comes from what your description says you do
